Recipe: Super Satisfying Sweet Green Smoothie

I have constantly struggled with feeling satiated. Every time I try to “eat clean” I become a cranky, ravenous craving monster and I often end up bingeing on the foods I’ve deprived myself of.

I’m trying this new thing where I don’t deprive myself. I’m not counting calories, macros, or number of times I cry in a day thinking about all the food I want to eat. Nothing is off limits (even if it’s calorie dense) as long as it’s real food and as long as it makes my body feel good. I’m trusting myself and I’m trusting my body. 

So far, my body seems to have pretty good taste. It led me to blend up this crave-worthy concoction.

My Super Satisfying Sweet Green Smoothie packs a serious punch, both nutritionally and psychologically. It’s a) satiating, b) nutrient-rich, and c) ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS (Seriously, my partner is always skeptical of green things and he’s been requesting these daily)!

So without further ado, here’s what I put in this Bad (Good?) Larry:


Super Satisfying Sweet Green Smoothie


  • 1/2 c. of unsweetened coconut milk beverage (Silk, So Delicious, or the like)
  • 1/2 c. of water
  • 1 oz. or a heaping handful of spinach
  • 1/2 of a medium avocado
  • 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder (I use Julian Bakery Vanilla Egg White Protein, but brands like Quest would probably work well too for those who dig dairy)
  • 1.5 tsp. of MCT oil
  • 1/2 cup of ice


Put in blender. Blend until smooth (I like to do a couple minutes so that all the spinach is pulverized and that some air is incorporated and it gets really creamy). Pour in glass. Drink. Straw optional, but always preferred.
